Justice Mazahar Naqvi was terminated as judge of Supreme Court of Pakistan on complaint filed by Mian Dawood Advocate.
Mian Dawood Advocate played a pivotal role in initiating the misconduct proceedings against Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi of the Supreme Court of Pakistan as admired and acknowledged by Supreme Judicial Council, a highest forum of accountability of judges of High Courts and Supreme Court, in its verdict reported in the Law Journal as 2024 SCMR 880.
On February 23, 2023, Dawood filed a formal complaint with the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), alleging that Justice Naqvi had violated the judicial code of conduct by engaging in misconduct and amassing illegitimate assets. The complaint accused the judge of using his position to benefit his children studying abroad and of receiving financial gains through a businessman named Zahid Rafique.
dagwood's complaint also referenced leaked audio recordings purportedly featuring conversations between Justice Naqvi and former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, suggesting attempts to influence judicial proceedings.
Despite Justice Naqvi's resignation on January 10, 2024, the SJC continued its inquiry and, on March 7, 2024, found him guilty of misconduct, recommending his removal from office.
Advocate Mian Dawood's actions were instrumental in bringing these allegations to light and prompting the subsequent investigation and disciplinary measures against Justice Naqvi.
